Do you really need an SCV licensed home inspector for a rental property? Yes! Here’s why.
Licensed home inspections are standard practice when buying and selling a house, but when it comes to rental properties, they’re surprisingly less common.
At SCREM, however, we believe a rental home inspection is just as important – if not more so – because you’re trusting that another person will return your property back to you in good shape.
That’s why it’s crucial to establish the excellent condition of your property before you rent it out.
“That’s why we have a licensed home inspector on our staff to handle all the move-ins and move-outs,” explained Steffanie Stelnick, CEO and President of SCREM. “It allows us to provide the highest level of protection for your rental property and your investment.”

What’s A Licensed Home Inspection?
Conducted by a licensed professional, this home inspection examines the physical structure and systems of a house, from the roof to the foundation, according to the American Society of Home Inspectors.
After the inspection is completed, the home inspector will deliver a comprehensive report that includes their findings, photographs, analysis and recommendations.
Why Is It Important For Rental Properties?
For rental property owners, a home inspection provides evidence that the home is being handed over to the tenant in excellent condition. It gives the owner a documented, detailed baseline of the health of the property. In fact, at SCREM, we think it’s a crucial part of the home rental process.
“We understand the stresses and issues that come with taking on a new tenant,” Steffanie explained. “That’s why we use only the most qualified professionals to care for your property, especially in the transition between tenants.”
Does SCREM Offer Licensed Home Inspections?
We believe it’s so important to have a home inspection from a licensed professional that we have one on staff. We’ve invested in our team to help them get the proper license and training, and now we can offer that service to our property owners.
“We want to make sure your home, which is your biggest asset, is being excellently maintained while it’s under our management,” Steffanie said.
Since we have a licensed home inspector on staff, you get a certified home inspection report for every move-in and move-out – at no additional cost.
When commissioned independently, a licensed home inspection can cost from $350-$700, depending on the size of the property and other factors.
“That’s no charge to you here. We take care of it, and you have nothing to lose,” Steffanie explained. “It’s just more value that we offer to our owners here at SCREM.”
