Stay Safe and Enjoy Fall Fun for the Whole Family
It may not quite be sweater weather yet, but fall fun is here. Throughout the area, pumpkin patches and apple orchards are gearing up for a fruitful season. Almost all of the local farms have COVID-19 related restrictions, but the vast majority are still open and operational.
At SCREM, we know that everything this year looks a little different from years in the past. From trick-or-treating to picking out your favorite pumpkin, the fall of 2020 will be unlike any other. We have gathered some information on local outdoor activities for family fun this fall. As always, if we can provide any assistance, contact our office at (661) 255-7600.
COVID-19 Restrictions and Safety Regulations
Nearly every farm has COVID-related restrictions in place to protect both staff and visitors from the virus. The pandemic may have limited some activities, but it has not shuttered them completely. It is recommended to visit during off-peak hours as some patches have strict guest capacity limitations.
Most patches and orchards have implanted the following safety regulations:
- Masks required upon entry for guests ages 2 (or 3) and up
- Social distancing
- Additional sanitizing and disinfecting measures
- Temperature checks or health screenings
Santa Clarita Area Pumpkin Patches
Picking your perfect pumpkin is a rite of passage for most people. Whether you plan to carve a masterpiece or paint it with funny features, there is nothing like going to a pumpkin patch to find just the right one.
Gilchrist Farm: Located in Santa Clarita and open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. The pumpkin patch is free to enter but is first-come, first-serve with capacity limits. Farm visits are by appointment only. The farm offers pony rides, wagon rides, and farm crafts. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the maze, slide, and pig races are not available.
Bennett’s Best Christmas Trees & Pumpkins: Located in Agoura Hills. While there are no slides or games this year, there are endless pumpkins to choose from, ranging from the petite to the gargantuan. Traditional pumpkins range from $7 to $35.
Southern California Apple Orchards
Oak Glen is easily considered Southern California’s apple country. The nearly two-hour drive may be worth it as you get to pick apples straight from any one of several sprawling orchards or select a vine-ripened pumpkin. Most businesses are still open with modifications due to local COVID-19 restrictions.
